Juan Carlos DELGADO

Project Space
August 13 to September 19 2015

Juan Carlos Delgado is a multidisciplinary artist who works with installations and interventions in public spaces by using photography, sculpture or painting. The artist’s work is shown as a fragment of a memory that stops in time; an open dialogue between remembering and forgetting that seeks to reveal some of his personal stories. The Humos series consists of seven black photos that appear to be columns struggling against gravity. The ethereal and volatile images represented in each photograph are the result of the burning of the personal items belonging to the artist’s mother after her death. On the floor there is a large black pool, a large black hole, a “Baudelairean Gouffre” that reflects the space but in an inverted manner. Bright black, almost glazed, a black mirror containing thousands of spaces.
